African Graduate Students and Scholars Association to Host Diasporic Rice Festival on April 10
The UMass Amherst African Graduate Students and Scholars Association (AGASA) will host the Diasporic Rice Festival, Friday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m. in the Amherst Room on the 10th Floor of the Campus Center.
All students, faculty and staff in the Five College Consortium is invited to attend the free event, an intercultural celebration that will explore how a single ingredient, rice, connects communities across African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin and North American diasporas. Through food, storytelling, a keynote talk, and dialogue, the festival creates space for cultural exchange and reflection on broader themes such as food justice, sustainability and identity.
Reservations are encouraged for the event, which is funded by an Advancing Community, Democracy, and Dialogue Grant, and can be made through EventBrite.
