Healthcare and biomedicine
Our researchers are designing & adapting biomaterials to understand how breast cancer spreads, and to efficiently deliver drugs to target cells. We are studying how traumatic brain injury occurs, ways to impact tissue repair & regeneration, and applying elements of cancer biology and materials science to retrain a damaged nervous system. We are revolutionizing mRNA vaccines & enhancing the thermal stability of proteins & viruses for use in vaccines & therapeutics.
As leaders in advanced manufacturing, we work to translate 2D materials into applications in point-of-care diagnostics. We are applying operations research to healthcare delivery, policy & decision making. Our cryptography experts investigate security and privacy for implantable medical devices. Within the Robotics Cluster of Excellence, we design wearable robotics to assist those with disabilities. And we've partnered with nurses to deliver personalized healthcare, and leverage breakthroughs in wearable devices & sensors through the Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering.
Leaders in life science research, we are core researchers & leaders within the campus Institute of Applied Life Sciences and its centers.
