Information for Newly Admitted Students

Our Engineering degrees are highly regarded by industry recruiters including Google, ExxonMobil, Apple, and NASA. We host employer recruitment events and offer career-planning assistance, help with resume and interview preparation, and access to co-ops and internships.

As part of an Engineering Connect Residential Academic Program (RAP), you live on the same floor as other Engineering students and take a first-year Engineering seminar together. Engineering Connect RAPs are available in five different residential communities at UMass.

This 5-year program allows up to 12 credit hours taken as an undergraduate to count toward 30-hour MS degrees, and up to 6 of those hours can be double counted to meet both BS and MS degree requirements. Maintain at least a 3.5 GPA to be automatically accepted into the MS program in your field.

Hi! My name is Ayela Sta. Maria and I’m from Acton, MA. I’m a senior Civil & Environmental Engineering major and I am also a part of the Accelerated Master’s 4+1 program working on my MSCE with a concentration in Structural Engineering and Mechanics. Here at UMass, I’ve been involved in the Filipino Student Association as a co-founder and previous Vice President. I’m also involved in the Society of Women Engineers and the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. In my free time I love playing the guitar, writing music, and building Lego sets.

Hi, my name is Jake Simon, and I am from Marlborough, MA. I am a junior mechanical engineering major with a passion for all things aviation. I am a pilot, aircraft mechanic, and Captain of the UMass Aeronautics Design Team. In the rest of my free time, I love hiking and listening to live music.
