As part of our strategic plan, Revolutionary Engineering: 2025 and Beyond, the College of Engineering has developed ambitious goals to further advance our revolutionary research, and to meet the educational needs of this era’s diverse, globally aware, engineers.

Learn more about our vision for a state-of-the art Sustainable Engineering Laboratories building—an interdisciplinary, living laboratory to accelerate clean energy research and educate tomorrow’s sustainable engineering workforce.
Programmatic and research support
We seek to build upon the broad range of experiential learning opportunities offered to students, and to increase investigatory research initiatives across all departments—enabling ambitious and pioneering researchers to take risks, gather data, and make breakthrough discoveries.

As impressive as our accomplishments have been, we have few of the material advantages our peers can claim; just imagine what we could achieve with additional funds—endowed professorships, faculty fellowships and joint academic appointments, and facilities that drive discovery and enrich experiential learning.
Access to education
To make certain that the best and brightest can continue to attend our College of Engineering, we must grow endowed undergraduate scholarships & fellowships, and accelerate our efforts in diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI)—especially in terms of helping students persist in our engineering programs.
Faculty support
Faculty challenge the status quo with big, bold, catalyzing ideas. And their commitment to being teachers and mentors means that our students have transformative opportunities to work alongside them. To retain and grow our faculty, we must establish endowed professorships, academia’s highest honor.
The impact of endowed professorships
In 2014, the Armstrongs partnered with another family to establish the Armstrong/Siadat Endowed Professorship in Materials Science.
