AI, autonomy, and robotics
From human-robot interactions and intelligent sensing platforms to unmanned vehicles and AI-enabled cybersecurity threat response—our faculty is conducting research at the cutting-edge of this transformative field.
We design and develop human-centered robotic systems that safely and effectively operate to assist humans in everyday tasks. We have expertise in soft robotics, physical human-robot interaction, prosthetic and exoskeleton design and control, new sensing platforms, and mechatronic system architecture design. And we are engaged in the cross-cutting, campus level Robotics@UMass lab.
Our expertise within artificial intelligence includes machine learning, safety in autonomous systems, computer vision, natural language processing, multi-agent systems, and systems management such as in wireless communications and cyber-physical systems. UMassAir is a lab engages in unoccupied aerial systems research.
