Sustainable Energy
The School of Earth & Sustainability, with support from the Energy Transition Institute and ELEVATE, offers a 15-credit certificate program with a broad range of courses from 10 departments across 3 colleges.
The interdisciplinary nature provides graduate students—in engineering, physical sciences, social sciences, conservation, and related fields—with the valuable skills needed to effectively collaborate and communicate across the many academic and non-academic disciplines and stakeholder sectors engaged in tackling the energy transition.
The complexity of the energy transition – the underlying science and engineering considerations, the environmental and social impacts and mitigation strategies, and stakeholder engagement – requires a specialized, transdisciplinary training. Our future engineers, scientists, and innovators must be aware of how their innovations will interact with social and economic forces, and our future political and economic leaders and social scientists need to understand the promises and limitations of the technology needed for the transition.
