Objective: Recognize research active faculty, bolster mentorship, and foster undergraduate research engagement.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Percentage of TT faculty with grants, awards, and prestigious fellowships
- Percentage of faculty participating in mentoring programs
- Percentage of faculty mentoring undergraduate students
- Mean number of students mentored at all levels by rank
- Percentage of undergraduate students involved in research across campus
Strategy 1: Nominate research active faculty for external awards and bolster faculty mentorship programs
Action Steps:
- Continue mini-K club and expand scope to other types of applications for junior faculty
- Promote and facilitate grant writing support program
- Work with Department Chairs to identify research active faculty to nominate for external awards and create inventory of potential awards to target
Strategy 2: Foster undergraduate research engagement
Action Steps:
- Develop and implement action plan with Research Committee with input from Department Chairs, Undergraduate Dean, undergraduate students, and other stakeholders to support and promote undergraduate research engagement
- Support the proposal from the school on Rising Leaders in Health that advocates for an experiential learning community model
