Objective: Establish SPHHS as an indispensable partner in advancing and applying knowledge, innovation, and service to the betterment of the state, the nation, and the world.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Faculty Activity Project - percentage of faculty participating in community engagement activities
- Kuali - number of proposals submitted and awarded that involve community partners
- Number of students participating in courses that offer community engagement opportunities
- Number of students participating in research projects with community partners
- Number of students participating in community engagement training opportunities (offered by CCHER, CRF, or school, etc.)
Strategy 1: Strengthen and sustain current community engagement partnerships.
Action Steps:
- Assess the needs of faculty, staff, students, and community partners to determine the supports and resources necessary for sustaining high-impact, long-term partnerships
- Promote and strengthen partnership infrastructure by sharing existing tools (e.g., MOUs, funding opportunities) and hosting annual gatherings or regional forums to foster collaboration and visibility.
Strategy 2: Seek opportunities for new funding.
Action Steps:
- Identify areas of alignment between community needs and emerging funding opportunities and develop collaborative proposals that address shared priorities
- Work across campus to build interdisciplinary collaborations to pursue community-based research, implementation science, and outreach
Strategy 3: Integrate community engagement into SPHHS student experiences and workforce development.
Action Steps:
- Expand experiential learning opportunities (e.g., internships, practica, service-learning) and embed engagement principles in advising, career services, and professional development
