Connect - Objective 1

Objective: Cultivate a deep sense of belonging amongst the SPHHS community.

Strategy 1: Take a data informed approach to cultivating a School community representative of the communities it serves & where all feel they belong.

Action Steps

  • Strengthen reciprocal relationships with urban communities, K-12 schools, community colleges, and minority service institutions.
  • Increase our understanding of the full range of needs of the SPHHS community.
  • Develop a comprehensive set of supports to meet the diverse needs of the SPHHS community.

Strategy 2: Strengthen inclusion through onboarding activities and programming that is accessible to all members of the campus community.

Action Steps

  • Create an SPHHS Inclusive Excellence Statement.
  • Provide training on inclusive practices and cultural competence/humility.
  • Promote an early sense of inclusion in the SPHHS community by providing full accessible onboarding and orientation activities.

Strategy 3: Increase the sense of belonging of students, staff, faculty.

Action Steps

  • Launch a wellbeing-integrated curriculum initiative that promotes engagement in the classroom and community through service-learning opportunities.**
  • Foster togetherness with regular traditions and events that celebrate community, connection, and identity.
