Kokui Adesokan

Kokui Adesokan ‘09 recently appeared on the "Embrace the Squiggle" podcast, reflecting on how her UMass Amherst engineering degree laid the groundwork for everything that followed—from career pivots to leadership roles—and how those experiences shaped the work she does today.

Adesokan is a Program Manager at Bridgewater Associates—the largest hedge fund in the world—where she oversees a portfolio of software engineering projects. Prior to Bridgewater, Adesokan was an associate director at Pratt and Whitney.

During the episode, Adesokan remarks: “I say once you are an engineer, you are an engineer for life, because the analytical thinking, the critical skills that you learn, the ability to break problems down into small pieces and solve them that way, that translates into every profession.” Listen to the full episode here.

Adesokan has been recognized with the UMass Amherst College of Engineering Young Alumni award; the Professional Achievement in Industry Award at the Women of Color STEM Conference; a Trailblazer Spectrum Award at the Black Engineer of the Year Conference; and a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Production (STEP) Emerging Leader Award. After her BS in chemical engineering from UMass Amherst, she proceeded to earn an MBA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Adesokan is also a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the College of Engineering, providing invaluable insight and support to help move the College forward. In addition, she will be featured as the keynote speaker for this year's Engineering and Computing Career Day, to be held on October 27th in the Campus Center.
