“Let your curiosity lead you on a wild adventure to do what only you can do,” said Korins, who was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts before he addressed the approximately 4,200 undergraduate students and 16,000 family, friends and faculty at Warren P. McGuirk Alumni Stadium.

The future leaders of research and advancement of knowledge were celebrated before more than 3,000 family, friends and colleagues in an event that marked the start of three days of Commencement events.

More than 20,000 attendees are expected to gather to witness the conferment of degrees to nearly 6,200 undergraduates at McGuirk Stadium Friday evening. An additional 2,900 graduate students will be honored at master’s and doctoral cerem

The Office of News and Media Relations works closely with journalists and the campus community to tell the UMass Amherst story. We gather and promote newsworthy developments about the achievements of faculty, staff and students; the university's programs and policies; research discoveries; and community outreach efforts. 

Our team provides a variety of services: news releases, social media, video, photography, Inside UMass newsletter, crisis communication and reputation management, promotion of faculty expertise, and interview preparation. We are part of University Relations, which promotes UMass Amherst to all our varied audiences, both internal and external.
