Nominations Open for 2026 Chancellor’s Citation Award
Nominations are now open for the annual Chancellor’s Citation Award, which celebrates individual staff members and staff teams whose work has significantly enhanced the university’s mission. The award honors those who demonstrate excellence, innovation and a meaningful impact within the university community.
Since its inception in 1985, the program has recognized the exemplary service of UMass Amherst’s staff members, whose skills and efforts play a crucial role in achieving the university’s objectives. Recipients of this award consistently go above and beyond their duties, making a positive impact on their executive area and beyond.
Continuing the tradition, the award will be granted to as many as 10 individual staff members and two staff teams in GIC-eligible positions. The Chancellor’s Citation Awards will be presented at a ceremony this April 2025.
The Chancellor’s Citation Awards Committee is looking for examples of outstanding and original contributions to the university. Examples include exceptional performance or service, original contributions to the university and achievement of significant improvements in productivity or savings in operations.
Nomination criteria and guidelines can be found on the awards’ page on the Human Resources website. To nominate a deserving individual or group, complete the nomination form found on the site by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Additional documentation, such as letters of recommendation or supporting materials, to strengthen the nomination, may also be submitted.
