Engineers Week 2026 banner.

Engineers Week is a national celebration of the vital contributions engineers make to our world—and an opportunity to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers.

This year’s theme, Transform Your Future, reflects the power of engineering to open new possibilities—for students, communities, and the world. That spirit is at the heart of the work across the UMass Amherst Riccio College of Engineering.

Tuesday, February 24

Engineering Open House for the Community
Time: 5:00–6:30 p.m.
Location: Campus Center Auditorium
All are welcome, including members of the public, the UMass community, and the college. Families are especially encouraged to join for hands-on activities and lightning talks.

Engineering Improvement Pitch 
Time: 6:30pm–8:00pm 
Location: Campus Center Auditorium
After the open house, stay for the Engineering Improvement Pitch, where teams of four will present ideas to improve the Riccio College of Engineering. Winning teams receive resources to help make their ideas real.

Wednesday, February 25

Bagels with the Dean [NEW DATE!!]
Time: 9:30–10:30 a.m.
Location: Gunness Student Center, Marcus Hall
Stop by, say hello to Dean Raman, and grab a free bagel and cream cheese from Tandem Bagels.

Engineering Career Fair (Day 1)
A two-day career fair for engineers (Feb. 25–26). Students can register for this and other career events on Handshake.
Time: 12:00pm–4:00pm
Location: Campus Center Auditorium

Thursday, February 26

Dr. Idalis Villanueva Alarcón Visit (Distinguished Scientist and Engineer Seminar Series)
Both events are free to attend and take place in the Cape Cod Lounge, Student Union.

  • Technical Talk & Discussion: “How Lifelong Engineers are Formed”
    Meet & Greet: 3:30 p.m. | Talk: 4:00 p.m.
  • Lecture & Community Dinner: “Our Students Are Multimodal Learners”
    Dinner: 6:15 p.m. | Lecture: 7:00 p.m.

Engineering Career Fair (Day 2)
Second day of the two-day engineering career fair.
Time: 12:00pm–4:00pm
Location: Campus Center Auditorium

Friday, February 27

Sustainability and Clean Energy Career Fair
Time: 11:00am–2:00pm
Location: Campus Center Auditorium

2026 Chajes Distinguished Lecture
Time: 2:30 p.m.
Location: Old Chapel
Title: “Engineering Risk Analysis and Decision for Communities Facing Natural Hazards: A talk in Four++ Parts”
Speaker: Ross B. Corotis, NAE
