Imaging the transcriptome with genome-scale microscopy
with Jeffrey Moffitt, PhD
Boston Children's Hospital
About Jeffrey Moffitt: Dr. Moffitt earned his PhD from the University of California Berkeley working with Dr. Carlos Bustamante. There he developed high-resolution optical tweezers for the Angstrom scale monitoring of the real time movements of molecular motors. He worked as a Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Xiaowei Zhuang at Harvard University, where he co-developed MERFISH, a method for multiplexed RNA imaging. He started his independent laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in 2018, where he focuses on using MERFISH and extensions of this technique to address questions at the interface between commensal microbe and host in the mammalian gut. He was named a Pew Biomedical Scholar in 2019 and is a co-founder of Vizgen.
