Alterations has an on-campus construction crew comprised of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and skilled tradespeople specializing in all facets of construction and renovation from the smaller scale to the extremely complex. Building maintenance provides operations, maintenance and repair support for over 13 million square feet of academic, administrative, and residential buildings, primarily focusing on preventative maintenance and minor maintenance and repair support.

“Mike has extensive experience in building a strong culture of service, developing staff and increasing efficiencies in a collaborative and cooperative manner,” says Ray Jackson, executive director of facilities management. “His proven track record will be critical to our continued efforts to build and enhance our academic, student, research and support facilities.”

Jednak, who replaces retiring director Steve Lemay, has more than 30 years of facilities management experience with public and private institutions. Most recently, he served as associate vice president and chief facilities officer at Florida State University and worked with a large vendor supporting Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. For 10 years he also served as associate vice president for facilities operations at the University of Connecticut, where he oversaw all facilities operations and academic renovations as well as parking, transportation and utility systems for the main Storrs campus, five regional campuses and agricultural extensions totaling 4,000 acres.

Prior to his tenure at UConn, Jednak served as director of facilities at Boston College and as associate vice president of facilities at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut.
