Alterations is an area of Facilities Management. The Alterations Department has an on-campus construction crew comprised of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and skilled tradespeople.

Alterations specializes in all facets of construction and renovation from the smaller scale to the extremely complex.  We have talented craftspeople on staff who can construct a scaled model of your perspective project so you can view a three dimensional version of your renovation prior to the build out. The Alterations Department is also in charge of the University’s window and air conditioner program as well as overseeing many split A/C systems being installed.

The Alterations construction team has completed multiple complex projects over the years with budgetary effectiveness and a timely completion. The team specializes in quick mobilization, excellent customer service, competitive pricing, and meeting deadlines.

Service Requests

A service request must be initiated in order to start the process. You can do this by contacting your Facilities Management Coordinators or by completing General Service (non-emergency) Request Form available at Service & Space Requests. If it is urgency, call the Facilities Solutions Center.  A representative from Alterations will visit the site to understand the general scope and exact location of the work requested.

Estimates and Drawings

If the project is within the parameters of work that can be managed by Alterations and is properly funded, a preliminary sketch or drawings will be developed and estimates made for the requestor. A time table will be set and, upon written approval by the requestor, the project will be authorized to move forward. A pre-construction meeting date will be set.

Communication

Regular communication will occur between Alterations and the designated customer contact. At the completion of the project, a walk through with the client will occur at which time a punch list will be developed if there is any remaining work to be done.
