The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invites the university faculty to the Teaching Showcase, from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, in Old Chapel.

The Teaching Showcase was designed by the CTL as a celebratory event to foster community around teaching, inspire new practices, and support instructional excellence through faculty recognition for curricular innovation. At the center of the event is a Sharing Showcase, in which faculty members from across campus will share their teaching approaches on engaging students in large classes, scaffolding learning, making materials accessible to enhance learning, and more.

This year’s Sharing Showcase participants and their topics include:

  • Jessica Boakye, Civil & Environmental Engineering – “Scaffolding Student Learning with Practice and Reflection”
  • Gregory Grinnell, Kinesiology – “Structuring Team-Based Learning in Large Courses”
  • Rosa Moscarella, Biology – “Including Student Input in the Creation of New Course Materials”
  • Tatishe Nteta, Political Science – “Encouraging Student Critical Thinking and Perspective Taking”
  • Torrey Trust, Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies – “Communicating Your Values through a Transparent Generative AI Policy”
  • Ashley Woodman, Psychological and Brain Sciences – “Meeting Diverse Students’ Needs Through a UDL-Designed Course”

“The event was the best celebration of teaching that I’ve experienced,” one faculty member said about a previous Teaching Showcase. “Celebrating with others who care so much about teaching was rejuvenating and inspiring.”

“The best event I’ve attended in 20 years,” another faculty member said of the event. “To have it centered on teaching really affirms our collective work.”
