UMass Amherst offers flexible learning options to meet the diverse needs of all students. Satellite campuses and hybrid learning options provide alternatives for those seeking a different start or finish to their student journey. From online courses that allow students to study from anywhere at their own pace, to study abroad programs that offer a deep dive into new cultures and perspectives, there's an option for everyone.
 

Summer Session UMass Amherst Students

UMass Amherst offers 800+ courses during the Summer Session, allowing students to accelerate their learning and explore new subjects outside the traditional academic calendar. 

Summer session offers two 6-week sessions, from May to August:

  • Session 1: May 21 – July 3
  • Session 2: July 8 – August 16

A unique opportunity for first-year students to live and study in a global city during the fall semester, while maintaining academic support from campus advisors to ensure a seamless transition back to Amherst for the spring semester.

UMass Amherst offers access to courses in the U+ session that are primarily online, flexible, and part-time, so students can continue their academic journey at a pace that works best with their schedule and circumstances.

The University Without Walls Interdisciplinary Studies degree completion program empowers students to finish their bachelor’s degrees online, offering a diverse array of academic fields through flexible pathways, personalized curriculum, and recognition of life and professional experiences for academic credit.
