Marv Schlanger ’72 MS began his career with Mobil in process research and joined the manufacturing department of ARCO Chemical Company in 1975. After managing several global businesses, he became Chief Financial Officer of ARCO Chemical in 1989, Chief Operating Officer in 1994, and President and CEO in 1998. Schlanger served as Chairman of the Board of UGI Corporation, which operates natural gas and electric utilities, distributes propane domestically and internationally, and manages midstream energy assets. He was formerly Chairman of the Supervisory Board of LyondellBasell Industries N.V., a global plastics, chemicals, and refining company; Chairman and CEO of CEVA Group, plc, an international logistics provider; and he has served on the Boards of several other public and private multi-billion revenue industrial firms. From 2000 to 2019, he was an Operating Partner at Apollo Global Management, Inc., a leading alternative investment manager. He is the recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Lifetime Achievement Award, the AIChE Government and Industry Leader’s Award, the NPRA Petrochemical Heritage Award, and the Medal of Excellence from the Rutgers University School of Engineering, where he earned his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1969. Schlanger also has published several articles and testified before the United States Congress. He has now retired from industry but currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania and other non-profit Boards.
