Corinne Carpenter '13
Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2026
Dr. Corinne Carpenter '13 has spent her career catalyzing effective science. She has worked across a broad swath of domains, from polymer physics and crystallization to data science and biotech, within commercial and academic settings. She has discovered that the most impactful work lies at the intersection of technical execution and knowledge translation. In the biotech space, she led a team of 10 on a dozen projects valued at almost $5.2m and coordinated multidisciplinary efforts with pharma companies and hospitals. Her greatest joy, though, is in mentoring the next generation of engineers and equipping them with the skills they need to be innovation leaders.
Corinne is currently the Communication Lab Manager in the EECS department at MIT. In this role, she leads a team of graduate and postdoc fellows to provide technical communication support and coaching to the EECS department. She leverages her diverse professional experiences to serve the EECS community and provide well-rounded mentorship to Comm Lab fellows.
In addition to her BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst, Dr. Carpenter holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California Santa Barbara. A Massachusetts native, she enjoys hiking, making jewelry, and playing with her terrier.
