Hey, I’m Ben! I am a senior from Ashland, MA majoring in chemical engineering. I’m super excited to be on the Engineering Career Center Staff this year!
This past summer I was a part of the NSF-REU program and the University of Akron out in Akron, Ohio. I was responsible for synthesizing and testing chemicals that would break when force was applied to them, seeing how they reacted over time in a polymer material based on their fluorescence when breaking. If you have any questions about applying to REUs and whether to pursue an REU or internship, please don't hesitate to reach out!
On campus, I am part of the UMass chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and I am a part of Dr. Shelly Peyton's lab investigating how the brain responds to mild traumatic brain injury and how we can better detect it. Outside of engineering, I am a big fan of traveling, watching movies, and hiking. I hope to see you in the career center soon!
