Arnaz Malhi completed his thesis on the use of recurrent neural networks to predict machine condition monitoring. He started his biomedical career in hip, knee and spinal implant materials research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He then moved to industry, leading engineering teams at Covidien (acquired by Medtronic) that developed electromechanical controllers and disposable sleeves for vascular compression, negative pressure wound therapy systems and catheters to remove blood clots from peripheral veins. At OmniGuide Surgical he led a team that developed a reusable laparoscopic instrument for precision CO2 laser surgery. At Takeda Pharmaceuticals he led cross-functional teams that developed drug-device combination products. He currently works at Moderna leading Technical Development Strategic Operations team. He is co-author of a paper on improved material for knee implants that was awarded the 2006 HAP Paul Award and is an inventor on 23 issued US patents. Along with his wife and two kids he enjoys watching the Celtics and hanging out with their Portuguese water dog.
