About
Welcome! The Office of Student Affairs is here to help you transition to the College of Engineering and to provide support throughout your time at UMass.
Reasons to speak with an advisor at the Office of Student Affairs include:
- applying to Engineering as a current UMass student
- course selection
- help with add/drop or registration
- checking your progress toward graduation
- general questions about your major
- family or medical emergencies
- resolving an academic hold
- concerns about your engineering experience
- student groups that need advising
- questions about adapting to the college or university
- study abroad advising
Depending on your needs, you may be deferred to one of the many offices and departments providing support to UMass students.
The academic dean for Engineering and Pre-Engineering majors is located in the Office of Student Affairs in Marston Hall. Visit the department advisors page for information on who to contact with questions about registration, curriculum, and course overrides within your major.

Resume tips and strategies
Located in 114 Marston Hall, the Engineering Career and Student Development Center can help you with your resume. The Center also provides information on career fairs, internships and co-ops, career planning and placement, and applying to grad school. You can make an appointment on Handshake.
Scholarships
Current undergraduate Engineering students who intend to return to UMass Amherst for the following academic year are encouraged to apply for scholarships via AcademicWorks. This service automatically matches you with the scholarships and financial awards for which you are eligible.
Visit Engineering
Come try the food (yes, it's as good as you've heard!) and explore the campus. Make your way over to the Engineering quad and join a tour led by one of our students. If you can't get to campus, that's no problem! We've got ways for you to virtually visit, too.
