Mullins Center, UMass Amherst
Livestreamed here; tickets required
Doors for guests open at 12pm

Student check-in at tent behind Mullins begins at 11:30am; arrive no later than 12:45pm

Guest information about the college's Senior Celebration Ceremony can be found here.

Join us before the ceremony under the tent in the Engineering Quad from 9:30-11:30am for light refreshments.

Did you miss the deadline to register in Tassel and secure tickets?  If so, plenty of guest tickets will be available at the Mullins on Friday, 5/16.  Graduates will need to arrive at 11:30am, under tent behind Mullins, in order to register and secure a Tassel "gold card"

Did you register, but need more guest tickets?   Tickets will be available via the Mullins Box Office and/or event staff on Friday 5/16

NOTE: Some early tickets issued by the Mullins Box Office erroneously say 9am; they will be honored @1pm

These instructions are for the College of Engineering event specifically. The main Undergraduate Commencement page can be found here. There is no rehearsal for either commencement event.

Cap & gown pickup:

No pre-order is necessary for undergraduates. Caps, gowns, and tassels may be picked up the week of Commencement: Monday, May 12 – Thursday, May 15, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Campus Center, first floor

Friday, May 16: Day-of Instructions

  • Seniors should check-in at the tent behind the Mullins beginning at 11:30 am

  • Arrive no later than 12:45 p.m.

  • Wear your cap and gown—tassel should be on the right side (degrees won't be conferred until the undergraduate commencement later in the day)

  • At check-in, you will receive your personalized Tassel registration card. Do not lose this as you will need it to cross the stage and have your name read.

  • There will be a “Help Desk” onsite until 12:45pm to assist those missed the registration deadline or are running into difficulties

  • You will be going through Mullins security. Do not bring any personal belongings beyond your cell phone. We will have water available.

  • Once inside, you should proceed straight to the Mullins Center floor and be seated with your classmates by major.

Crossing the stage:

  • When it is time to cross the stage, your major will be instructed to rise.

  • Before going on stage you will have you photo taken and be handed a commemorative medal to wear.

  • When is it your turn, your Tassel QR code will be scanned and you will proceed toward the dean/department head who will offer to shake your hand.

  • Next, just depart that stage via center stairs where you will be greeted by awaiting department faculty, handed a small gift, and then directed back to your seat.

Before the ceremony, the Mullins screen will feature your pictures

For the hour before the ceremony, the big screen in Mullins will feature pictures submitted by graduates and their families. Starting now, until the procession begins, you can submit your images via this form or by using #UMassEngineering on Instagram or tagging @UMassEngineering on Instagram and/or Facebook. All pictures are welcome, but please keep them appropriate.
