The Digital Systems & Integrated Circuits concentration exposes students to standard CMOS based ASIC design, custom CMOS design, and FPGA based reconfigurable circuit design. The courses provide hands-on experience with hardware specification, logic design, verification, synthesis, physical implementation, circuit design, integrated circuit product testing, and the most up-to-date Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools on Linux in our VLSI lab.

In addition to the requirements for our MS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the concentration requires taking 5 courses from among the following:

  • Digital Signal Processing (E&C-ENG 565)
  • Embedded Systems (E&C-ENG 622)
  • Design Principles for Low Power Embedded Computing Systems (E&C-ENG 623)
  • Reconfigurable Computing (E&C-ENG 636)
  • VLSI Testing (E&C-ENG 654)
  • VLSI Design Principles (E&C-ENG 658)
  • Advanced VLSI Design (E&C-ENG 659)
  • Hardware Design for Machine Learning (E&C-ENG 662)
  • Synthesis & Verification of Digital Systems (E&C-ENG 667)
  • Computer Architecture (E&C-ENG 668)
