The Accelerated MS program in Manufacturing Engineering (4+1) is open to all undergraduate students at UMass Amherst who are enrolled as majors in mechanical, industrial engineering, as well as students in related fields, such as other engineering disciplines.

The MS in Manufacturing Engineering degree is a 10-course (30-credit) program without a thesis requirement.

Coursework requires a minimum of four three-credit core courses and at least six three-credit electives for a total of 30 credits. Two of the six electives should be chosen to attain further specialization in a sub-field  (e.g., leadership and project management, materials, analytics, etc.); of the four remaining electives, students may take up to two practicum courses (related industry internship or an independent study) for six credits.

It is expected that the 30 credits will be fulfilled in 12 months for those taking advantage of the accelerated master’s program for UMass Amherst engineering undergraduates.
