As an undergrad student in chemical engineering at UMass Amherst or Smith College, consider this dual-degree accelerated program allows you to apply your undergraduate credits toward your graduate degree to attain both your BS & MS degrees within a five-year timeframe.

Application Process

During the fall semester of your senior year, formally apply to the ChE MS Program through the Graduate School. Prospective students should apply to the program with the Accelerated option (program is coursework only).

Students meeting the fast-track GPA requirement (>3.5) don't have to fill out otherwise required GRE scores, letters of reference, or provide a personal statement. In the personal statement section, instead write the following: “I am applying as an accelerated fast-track candidate.” If you're not eligible for fast-track admission, you must provide two letters recommendation and a personal statement. All applicants must upload an unofficial copy of their transcript.

Once you've applied through the Graduate School, email Marie Wallace (mmancini [at] engin [dot] umass [dot] edu (mmancini[at]engin[dot]umass[dot]edu)) & inform her that you have applied. Fast-track eligible students will be admitted quickly, assuming you meet the GPA requirement.
