Zoom Security: Check Meetings Before Monday, May 16
Starting Monday, May 16, Zoom at UMass Amherst accounts will require at least one security setting.
UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) and the vendor made these changes to protect your Zoom experience from cybersecurity threats.
What to do before May 16
Check recurring and previously scheduled meetings
In Zoom at UMass Amherst account, select one of three options for each meeting:
- Passcode: Participants are prompted for a password to join the meeting.
- Waiting room: Participants are placed in a waiting room before the meeting host approves them for entry into the meeting.
- Require authentication to join: Participants need to log in to Zoom or Zoom at UMass Amherst to join your meetings.
Learn how to set up your security options in Zoom.
Once updated, resend the Zoom meeting information to your students or collaborators and update your calendar.
Set up a default security option for future meetings
Choose to protect your meetings using a passcode, waiting room, or login (authentication).
After May 16, waiting room will be automatically assigned to your recurring, scheduled, and future Zoom meetings unless you specify otherwise.
