At its quarterly meeting held on Sept. 26, the UMass Board of Trustees approved the following UMass Amherst faculty appointments:

• Keith Marzullo, dean of the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences, received an appointment with tenure.
• Brian Van Koten, associate professor of mathematics and statistics in the College of Natural Sciences, received an award of tenure.

The following faculty were named to professorships and endowed chairs:

• Linda Tropp, professor of social psychology in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences, was named Endowed University Chair in Peace Psychology.
• James Walkins, professor of polymer science and engineering in the College of Natural Sciences, was named to the Eugene M. and Ronnie Isenberg Professorship in Integrative Sciences.
• Holly Yanco, professor in the Riccio College of Engineering and Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences, was named Distinguished Professor. Yanco also received transfer of tenure from the Miner School of Computer and Information Sciences, Robotics at UMass Lowell to the UMass Amherst Department of Computer Sciences and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
