Two-step Login Expanded to Zoom, Microsoft 365, Other Campus Services for Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students
In response to recent information security threats targeting UMass Amherst, faculty and staff, and graduate students will use two-step login to access Zoom, Moodle, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, DocuSign, and other technology, library and administrative services this fall.
This is the same process many employees use to access HR Direct. With two-step login, you verify your identity with your password, then use a physical device such as a mobile phone, tablet or landline phone to complete the login. This process protects your account and data from fraudulent access.
This individualized login experience is based employees’ primary role at the university and does not yet apply to subsidiary accounts. Members of the same department may have different login experiences based on their affiliation with the university. You will be notified via email before your login experience is scheduled to change.
Expanding the use of two-step login is part of UMass Amherst’s larger risk management strategy. As circumstances evolve, additional security measures may be deployed quickly to increase the resilience of our IT infrastructure and strengthen protections for the campus technology environment.
