Equity and Inclusion

Registration Open for Spring Semester STRIPE Program Training Workshops

The Office of the Provost’s Faculty Diversity unit, in partnership with UMass ADVANCE, will offer Strategies and Tactics for Retention through Inclusive Promotion Evaluation (STRIPE) training workshops for members of colleges, schools and department personnel committees through April 10.

The two-hour workshop is intended to address the particular challenges in the faculty evaluation and promotion process. Training goals include developing strategies and best practices to minimize inequities, strategically counteract unconscious bias, and support inclusion and inclusivity in faculty promotion and tenure cases. These goals help set the stage for greater retention of faculty, especially women and faculty from groups historically underrepresented in the academy.

The Faculty Diversity unit and UMass ADVANCE, in consultation with the Office of Faculty Development and the Academic Personnel Office, offer STRIPE training workshops as part of a collaborative effort to address barriers to faculty retention and build a more diverse and inclusive UMass Amherst community.

The workshops are offered once a week through March 29 at the Campus Center and April 10 via Zoom. For more information and to register, visit the Office of the Provost, STRIPE Training Program web page
