

Over 300 Safety Professionals From Across the Country Participate in OSHA Summer Summit Hosted by UMass EHS


UMass Amherst recently hosted over 300 environmental health and safety professionals from across the county at the 12th annual Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Summer Summit.
The June 4 event was hosted by UMass Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and led by Rob Wallace, EHS occupational health and safety manager, and Maryanne Steele, EHS assistant director of campus safety and fire prevention. Wallace and Steele worked closely with representatives from OSHA, the OSHA Training Institute at Keene State College, and the Connecticut Valley Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals to provide a full day of training and instruction.
The summit featured an afternoon keynote presentation and 18 different breakout sessions, covering topics including the advancement of AI in EHS, respiratory protection, actively caring for people and numerous case studies.
