Office of Faculty Development to Host Workshop on Transitioning to Committee Chair

The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) invites faculty to “From Member to Chair: Strategies for Effective Committee Leadership,” a workshop that will address the expanded skill set needed to successfully transition from committee member to committee chair. The workshop will take place via Zoom on Monday, March 21 from 12:15 – 1:15 p.m.

Taking a combined didactic and interactive approach, this workshop will address the process-oriented and leadership-oriented skills necessary for effectively leading committees and councils. Topics include agenda setting, voting rights and procedures, clear communication, consensus building, maintaining motivation, and who to turn to when additional support is needed.

The workshop, presented by Sarah Poissant, OFD Chancellor’s Leadership Fellow and associate professor of communication disorders, is part of OFD's LEAF Series (Leadership Essentials for All Faculty), an initiative for all faculty members who are interested in learning more about leadership and enhancing their leadership skills.
