New Parking Lot Opened on Former Site of Hills House

New Lot 52

Parking Services has opened a new parking lot on Thatcher Road on the former location of Hills House, which has been demolished.

The lot designation is Red Lot 52. The lot is divided into two sections; the south side of the lot will be for Lot 52 permit holders only, and the north side is available for ParkMobile pay-by-cell customers.

Instructions to use ParkMobile are available on the Parking Services website, https://www.umass.edu/transportation/parking.

Eight meter spaces have also been added along Thatcher Road.

The new lot will have one final phase of construction scheduled for the summer of 2019. This phase will add a finish layer of blacktop and an electric vehicle (EV) charging station.

The four-story Hills House was built in 1960 as a dormitory and most recently provided office space for the Center for Counseling and Psychological Health, landscape architecture and regional planning and the College of Education.
