LARP to Host 8th Fábos Conference on Landscape and Greenway Planning April 11-13

Landscape architects, planners and policymakers from around the globe will converge on the UMass Amherst campus this spring for the 8th Fábos Conference on Landscape and Greenway Planning, organized by the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The conference, April 11-13, will focus on how greenways can connect urban and rural settings, promoting ecological balance and offering spaces that foster health and well-being.
Registration is now open and available online. The early registration deadline is March 15.
With the theme “healing place and planet” in urban planning, topic areas of the conference will include climate change and resilience, public-private partnerships, tourism and landscape, and the evolving role of open spaces, among many others.
The event will feature conference sessions, keynote speakers, new original research and two optional field trips to Boston and to sites along the Connecticut River.
The Fábos Conference is held every three years to advance research and practice on landscape and greenway planning from the local to the international levels, exploring how landscape architects and planners from different countries approach greenway planning. It facilitates an information exchange, helping practitioners understand how greenways have been tailored to each country’s unique geographical, cultural and political circumstances.
