Jen Gallant, business consultant and former vice president of engagement at Valley Venture Mentors, has been named manager of the UMass Amherst Community Campaign (UMACC). She began her duties Nov. 13.

UMACC is an annual campaign that enables UMass Amherst faculty, staff and retirees to donate to any 501c3 nonprofit they choose. The campaign runs through the fall and closes Jan. 31. None of the money raised stays on campus.

Since its inception in the early 1990s, the campaign has raised more than $8 million. Last year alone, 694 donors gave $451,110 to 405 organizations. More than 60 percent of those donations went to nonprofits in western Massachusetts.

As manager, Gallant will oversee the campus-wide effort to continue UMACC’s growth.

“Jen’s extensive experience with nonprofit fundraising and working with volunteers, along with her strong commitment to area nonprofits, will be a tremendous asset to UMACC,” said Tony Maroulis, executive director of University Relations and External Events. “She will provide nonprofits with opportunities to inform the UMass community about their missions and needs while giving robust support to UMACC donors and volunteers.”

“I am awed and inspired by the generosity of the UMass community,” said Gallant. “These dollars have an extraordinary impact on the success of nonprofits in our region and beyond. UMACC sends a clear message; UMass cares.”

Gallant attended Hampshire College and earned an M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has volunteered for nonprofits including the New England Aquarium, Baystate Medical Center and the Treehouse Foundation.

She lives in Florence with her wife Nancy and daughter Maddie.

Faculty, staff and retirees are encouraged to visit the UMACC website to make their donation. Contact jengallant@umass.edu with questions about the campaign.
