Jayati Ghosh Named to U.N. Secretary-general’s High-level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism
Jayati Ghosh, economics, is one 12 experts and current and former global leaders named to a new High‑Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The High-level Advisory Board will be asked to build on the ideas from the U.N.’s “Our Common Agenda” report of September 2021. It will be focused on the centrality of women and girls, and the need to take into account the interests of young people and future generations, to make concrete suggestions for more effective multilateral arrangements across a range of key global issues. Their non-binding recommendations would inform deliberations by Member States at the proposed Summit of the Future.
In addition to her position on the new board, Ghosh is also board member of the U.N.’s High-level Advisory Board on Economic and Social Affairs.
The work of Ghosh and the High‑Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism will be supported by the Centre for Policy Research of the United Nations University in close coordination with the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.
More information about the new board and its members can be found on the U.N. Secretary-General’s website.
