

History Department to Host Two-Part Series on History and Democracy

Beginning next week, the Department of History will host a two-part series on history and democracy featuring panel presentations giving historical perspectives on democracy and the current election. Both events, which are free and open to the public, will be held in Herter Hall, Room 601.
The first panel, “Do Elections Give the Majority of People What They Want?: Four Historical Perspectives on Voting” with professors Joel Wolfe, Brian Ogilvie, David Glassberg and Andrew Donson, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 1-2 p.m.
The second panel, “The Meanings of Democracy: Historical, Linguistic, and Political Contexts” with professors Tim Hart, Sigrid Schmalzer, Asheesh Kapur Siddique and David Fleming, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 12:10-1:10 p.m.
