Fine Arts Center Cancels Remainder of Spring 2020 Season
The Fine Art Center (FAC) has cancelled all events for the remainder of the semester, as well as closed museums and galleries, in support of efforts by the university, state and federal government to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The following events are cancelled:
- Saturday, April 4 - Leyla McCalla Quartet in Bowker Auditorium
- Thursday, April 9 - morning and evening performances, Monkey Baa Theatre Company’s Diary of a Wombat in the Concert Hall
- Tuesday, April 14 - Ashwini Ramaswamy’s Let the Crows Come in Bowker Auditorium
- Thursday, April 23 - Hamid Drake’s Indigenous Mind on April 23 at the UMass Old Chapel
- Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26 - ¡Guitarra! Classical Guitar Series’ presentation of Drew Henderson at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art
- Tuesday, April 28 - Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the Concert Hall
Efforts are being made to reschedule these shows. Ticket buyers will be alerted if new dates are confirmed. Customers are asked to only reach out to the Box Office via email at facbox@umass.edu, and only if they would like to discuss alternative options to a refund or have a question not addressed. As a reminder, do not email sensitive information.
The Augusta Savage Gallery, Hampden Gallery and University Museum of Contemporary Art are also closed until further notice.
These measures will have serious economic consequences, especially to artists, crew members and support staff, and arts organizations. The Fine Arts Center is inviting the community to consider the following options as a way to support the organization during this challenging time:
- Exchange the value of purchased tickets for a gift certificate to be used at a later time with the FAC box office
- Donate the value of purchased tickets as a much-appreciated gift to the Fine Arts Center’s Annual Fund
- Make a gift in place of the performance or exhibition you would have visited
