COVID-19 Testing Trends Remain Encouraging

The Public Health Promotion Center (PHPC) is closely monitoring COVID-19 test results, and officials report that trends and the positivity rate at UMass Amherst remain encouraging.

The positivity rate for last week (March 29-April 4) was 0.23%. This is the fourth consecutive week of having a positivity rate under 0.26%, which is a testament to the UMass Amherst community for their continued support in following the public health protocols. Comparatively, the state’s current seven-day positivity rate is 2.46%.

Jeff Hescock, co-director of the PHPC, said, “With the spring semester ending in about a month it is important that everyone continue to remain vigilant by following the public health protocols: Stay up to date on testing, socialize within your bubble, keep your mask up, limit any unnecessary travel. With everyone’s commitment to the public health protocols, we can finish the semester strong. Thank you for all you are doing to keep yourself and the UMass community safe.”
