The Royal Academy exhibition is the most extensive retrospective of his work to date in the UK, and Clingman was commissioned by Kentridge and the Royal Academy to write the catalogue. The book, titled “William Kentridge,” comprises a long essay, “Liberating Vision” as well as six meditations on specific works in the exhibition, and last week Clingman traveled to London for events surrounding the official opening. More information can be found at these sites: RA exhibition and book; and distribution in the USA.

In other news, on Sept. 29, Clingman was featured in a webinar marking the reissue of his award-winning book, “Bram Fischer: Afrikaner Revolutionary” in South Africa. The book, which tells the story of the white Afrikaner who led Nelson Mandela’s defense at the Rivonia Trial and who was himself later sentenced to life imprisonment by the apartheid regime, is also in production as an audiobook.
