Call for Applications: Office of Faculty Development Scholarly Writing Fellows 2026-27
The Office of Faculty Development invites applications for a new cohort of Scholarly Writing Fellows (SWFs) for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
For the 2026-27 academic year, OFD is expanding the role for SWFsIn addition to helping their peer faculty members carve out writing time through leading writing circles, this year’s cohort will offer “Write on Sites” and “Write Where You Ares,” and play a key role in offering guidance to help develop OFD’s Scholarly Writing program.
Over the academic year, SWFs not only benefit from developing new connections with other writers but also from having dedicated time for their own scholarly writing. As an additional benefit, 2026-27 SWFs will receive an increased $1,000 research stipend.
The SWF opportunity is open to all full-time faculty and librarians at UMass Amherst. SWFs must commit to participating in one two-hour training session before the fall semester begins, in addition to no more than four other check-in meetings throughout the year. These trainings and meetings will help SWFs become oriented to the process and principles of running writing circles and give them the opportunity to provide insight to OFD on faculty and librarian writers’ needs.
Applications are due Thursday, May 7, and appointments will be made for four to six fellows.
