Applications Open for 2022–23 UMass Amherst Civic Engagement and Service-learning Faculty Fellow Program

Applications are now being accepted for the UMass Amherst Civic Engagement and Service-learning Faculty Fellows program.

Civic Engagement and Service-Learning (CESL) Faculty Fellows can integrate community engagement and service-learning into courses to:

  • Apply a high-impact, transformative pedagogy for social change relevant to any discipline.
  • Strengthen the relationship between your teaching and your engaged scholarship.
  • Provide students with a deeper, experiential academic understanding of the world in which they live and their power to be positive agents of change.
  • Help your department contribute to all four student learning goals of the UMass Strategic Plan: Community, agency, responsibility and proficiency.

CESL Fellows receive a $1000 stipend, attend monthly meetings and work on new or existing syllabi with a diverse group of faculty from across campus. The fellowship runs for the full 2022–23 academic year.

If you are a faculty member who would like to develop new learning opportunities for your students in collaboration with off-campus community partners apply for the fellowship now.

Applications are due Friday, April 8, 2022.
