Women of Color Leadership Network (WOCLN) is collaborating with University Women In Leadership (UWiL) to present this conversation with Kathy Lopes. Code-switching is the practice of alternating between two or more languages, or varieties of language in conversation, depending on the social context. For people of color, code-switching can be a survival technique when navigating spaces of dominant culture. In this presentation, we will discuss how this age-old practice shows up in our daily social and professional interactions, unpack the psychological burden on marginalized groups, and learn how to create access and opportunity in exclusive spaces.
