Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering
This is a new program for 2025, view the curriculum here.
The field:
Environmental engineers design, construct, & operate projects to protect human health and the environment. This includes providing drinking water; reclaiming wastewater; flood control and irrigation; addressing air quality; and the remediation of contaminated environments.
The major:
Within this new degree program, environmental engineering majors begin their experience by taking foundational courses in mathematics, chemistry, and physics—which are nearly identical to those in the civil engineering major. During junior and senior years, elective coursework and research opportunities are plentiful in areas such as drinking water quality and treatment, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, water quality and pollution, water resources and supply, and sustainability.
Student researchers have access to cutting-edge facilities, a wide range of advanced instrumentation, and mentorship from award-winning faculty.
