UMass Engineering Rises in National Rankings

In the U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 rankings, the UMass Amherst College of Engineering has been ranked the No. 54 overall best undergraduate engineering program in the country. The college shares this rank with Tufts University and five others in a seven-way tie.
The college has been rising in the rankings over the past few years, from No. 63 in the 2021 rankings, to No. 56 in the 2022 rankings, and now to No. 54 in the 2023 rankings.
In terms of undergraduate engineering programs at public universities specifically, the college ranks No. 29 in the nation, in a four-way tie, and it remains the No.1 program in New England.
The U.S. News & World Report’s Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs ranking is based on the evaluations of deans and senior faculty at accredited peer institutions.
At the campus level, UMass Amherst has maintained its standing as one of the nation’s leading public universities, ranking No. 26 out of the 227 public universities evaluated in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges Guide. Among all 443 national universities evaluated, both public and private, UMass ranks No. 67.
