Eversource Mobile Response Center Visits UMass Amherst

Eversource’s Mobile Response Center (MRC) is a mobile unit equipped with engineering and IT technology to enable on-the-spot energy support during storms. With full communications connectivity and workstations, MRC can serve as an operations center during a major restoration effort in any community.
This MRC travels all over New England, and has recently traveled as far as Virginia. But on Tuesday, November 12, it spent the day on-campus at UMass Amherst.
Several Eversource employees staffed the MRC—including Robert Fraulino, who is the Supervisor of the Communications Wireless Services department, and Mark Powell, who is the technician and operator of the MRC—and offered UMass Amherst students a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the company’s mobile operations, as well as information about Eversource internships and career paths.
After the event, Fraulino commented that “the students, staff, and professors had many outstanding questions on how we utilize the MRC to conduct electrical and gas emergency restoration efforts. Along with speaking to them about the capabilities and onboard technology in the MRC we spoke about how Eversource conducts both routine and emergency operations, and of course employment opportunities at Eversource.”
Eversource—which is headquartered in Boston, MA, and Hartford, CT—also recently participated in the Fall Engineering Career Fair.
This event was organized by UMass Career Services, in collaboration with the College of Engineering's Career Development and Experiential Learning Center.
