Fall Career Fairs for Engineering Majors
Content
UMass Amherst will host several career fairs this fall, offering engineering students opportunities to connect with employers, explore internships, co-ops, and full-time positions, and gain experience interacting with recruiters. The fall schedule includes two major engineering-focused events on September 29 and 30, followed by additional career fairs later in the semester.
Students looking for help preparing for the fairs are encouraged to consult the Riccio College of Engineering’s Career Development and Experiential Learning Center, which offers one-on-one counseling, résumé and cover letter assistance, career fair preparation, mock interviews, and other professional development resources.
The Engineering & Technology Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, September 29, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Mullins Center. This is expected to be the largest engineering career fair yet, and it is the first time the event is being held in the Mullins Center. More than 100 employers are expected to attend, recruiting students for internships, co-ops, and full-time positions. Students are encouraged to review the participating employers ahead of time, bring copies of their résumé, and come prepared to introduce themselves and discuss their interests and experience.
On Wednesday, September 30, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. in the Campus Center Auditorium, the Civil & Environmental Engineering Career Fair will bring together students and employers representing fields including transportation, environmental engineering, water resources, geotechnical and structural engineering, and civil engineering construction. More than 70 employers are currently expected to participate.
Two other fall career fairs may also be of interest to engineering students:
- The Building & Construction Technology Career Fair will take place on Friday, October 9, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. in the John W. Olver Design Building, with employers in areas including construction, project management, green building and sustainability, building systems, and materials.
- The Life Sciences & Biotech Career Fair will be held on Friday, October 16, offering an opportunity for students interested in careers at the intersection of engineering, biotechnology, healthcare, and the life sciences.
