Abstract:
Through collaboration and innovation, ISO New England plans the transmission system, administers the region’s wholesale markets, and operates the power system to ensure reliable and competitively priced wholesale electricity. This talk provides an overview of ISO-New England, a description of the New England system, and details on concepts related to the ISO New England interconnection process.
Bio:
Alex Rost is the Director of Transmission Services within the ISO New England System Planning department. The Transmission Services group administers requests for generation interconnection and transmission service, supports the coordination of interconnection studies with other study efforts (e.g., state jurisdiction interconnection studies), and oversees the maintenance and build of system study models. Alex joined ISO New England in 2012, previously holding engineering and management positions in the Transmission Planning and Forward Capacity Market Resource Qualification groups. Before joining ISO New England, Alex worked for the New Brunswick System Operator where he supported and conducted transmission planning and interconnection studies. He is a past member of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) Task Force on System Studies and the NPCC SS-38 Working Group on Inter-Area Dynamic Analysis, at one point serving as chair of the latter working group. Alex has over 19 years of industry experience. Alex holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree in Electrical Engineering (Power System Option) from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Western New England University.
