About

Dan Riccio is Vice President of Engineering at Apple, Inc. formally Senior Vice President of Apple's Hardware Engineering organization.  He’s been responsible for the electrical, mechanical and system design, engineering, and core technology development of Apple’s hardware products. 

Dan started at Apple in June of 1998 as Director of Desktop Product Design. During this timeframe, Dan and his team delivered the first iMac in August 1998 and the G3 Tower in January 1999.  In July of 1999, Dan was promoted to Senior Director and took over responsibility for Portables Product Design. In June of 2000, Dan was promoted to Vice President leading all Product Design for Apple.  In May 2010, Dan became Vice President of the iPad Division, responsible for all hardware engineering functions in this space. In September 2012, Dan was promoted to Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering and joined Apple’s Executive Team reporting to the CEO.  In 2020, Dan transitioned from this position to focus exclusively on Apple’s newest product category, Spatial Computing and delivering the Apple Vision Pro.

Prior to Apple, Dan worked at Compaq in Houston from February of 1997 as Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering.  At Compaq, Dan was responsible for the mechanical design for all Compaq's Consumer PC business.  During Dan's tenure, Compaq assumed #1 market share in the consumer PC space with industry leading products in both the Desktop and Portable form factors.

Dan began his career at Digital Equipment in Maynard, MA in 1987.  He enjoyed a successful 10 year career at DEC starting in Manufacturing Engineering leading to positions in Engineering Management in Power Systems design and Workstations and Server Designs incorporating DEC's Alpha CPU and high end Intel microprocessors.

Dan earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
